Return to the University of Padua

On 12/09/2022 - 20/09/2022 a researcher of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the UPWr - dr hab. Aleksandra Pawlak visited the University of Padua again, this time in the company of an employee of the Department, Ewa Dejnaki. The aim of the mobility was to continue research conducted as part of scientific cooperation with the team of Professor Mauro Dacasto on the possibility of using PARP inhibitors in oncology in dogs - in patients with lymphoma or leukemia. During the visit, an NGS analysis (next generation sequencing) of the material collected during the first visit was performed. The process of interpreting the results has also begun, which will allow their application in practice - the development of a new anticancer therapy for dogs.

In addition to the daily brainstorming, the visit was an opportunity for the trainees to acquire new skills in the field of molecular biology techniques for the diagnosis of lymphomas and leukemias in dogs. During their stay, Aleksandra Pawlak and Ewa Dejnaka trained in the diagnostic use of PCR techniques - how to analyze mutations in the c-Kit gene, MDR gene or how to conduct a PARR test.
