International workshops on reproductive biotechniques within NAWA ScienceNet project – part III: Assisted reproduction: Comparative aspects between Large and Small Animals
On March 12, 2022, the third part of the series of workshops organized as part of the NAWA ScienceNet project (no. PPI/APM/2019/1/00044) on reproductive biotechniques took place. The role of the course master passed into the hands of prof. Ann van Soom from the University of Ghent (Belgium). The co-organizers were: the Department of Reproduction and Clinic of Farm Animals, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences (ScienceNet project leader), EDRA and project partners: University of Milan (Italy), L'École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort (France) and the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna (Austria). The event was held under the patronage of the Committee of Veterinary Sciences and Reproductive Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The third part of the workshop entitled "Assisted reproduction: Comparative aspects between Large and Small Animals" discussed the latest trends in reproductive biotechniques (e.g. the use of extracellular vesicles or stem cells) in the comparative aspect between farm, companion and wild animals. Lectures were delivered by well-known scientists from all over the world: Bernard Roelen (Netherlands), Ruth Appeltant (Great Britain), Camille Gautier (Austria), Bart Gadella (Netherlands), Marc Yeste (Spain), Lamia Amira-Briand (France), Wojciech Niżański and Maria Eberhardt (Poland), Martina Colombo (Italy), Federica Franciosi (Italy), Jenny Zahmel (Germany), Sven Budik (Austria), Krishna Pavani (Belgium), Shehu Sidi (Nigeria) and Pierre Comizzoli (USA).
The workshops were organized in the on-line formula, which allowed for the participation of a wide range of interested parties from various countries - the event was attended by over 260 people. The next part of the workshop will take place in July 2022 - the organizers will be prof. Christine Aurich and prof. Sabine Schäfer-Somi from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna.
