Continuation of cooperation with the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna
On October 26, 2021 - November 11, 2021, PhD student at the Department of Reproduction with the Clinic of Farm Animals of the UPWr - DVM Zuzanna Ligocka completed a second internship at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. The internship was again supervised by Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr.med.vet. Sabine Schäfer-Somi Dipl.ECAR.
During the first visit in June, cooperation was established, experience was planned and the research methodology was refined, thanks to which all planned procedures were efficiently carried out during the November stay.
Assessment of cholesterol displacement from the canine sperm cell membrane was assessed by flow cytometry, and the degree of sperm capacitation was assessed by indirect immunofluorescence. The conducted experiments will be part of the doctoral dissertation. As part of the established cooperation, joint publications, as well as an international project will be prepared. Although most of the time was spent in the laboratory, the PhD student had the opportunity to additionally participate in the analysis of clinical cases.
During the weekend there was also time to visit Laxenburg Castle and its gardens, Schönbrunn Palace and the oldest operating zoo in the world, Zoo Vienna.
